MBBS Course – 2010-Armed Forces Medical College

Courses/Exams: MBBS Course – 2010

Eligibility: Applications are invited for admission to the MBBS course at Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, commencing from 02 Aug 2010. Total 130 candidates (including a maximum of 25 girls) will be selected. All the 105 boys and 25 girls admitted to Armed Forces Medical College, Pune have compulsory liability to serve as commissioned officers in the Armed Forces Medical Services on graduation. The type of commission will depend upon the vacancies available and merit-cum-option at the final MBBS examination. The liability of the Short Service Commission (SSC) officers passing out of AFMC to serve the Armed Forces Medical Services would be seven (7) years. All candidates admitted to the college are required to execute a bond to this effect for an amount of Rs. 15 lacs (Rupees Fifteen lacs) at the time of joining the college. Students removed from service liability due to any reason will have to pay the bond money as per conditions laid down by Govt of India.

Ten seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates who also have similar service liability and have to fulfil the requirements of medical fitness, age, educational qualification and qualifying the entranceexamination as per details given in the prospectus.

SPECIAL CONCESSIONS: The Govt will provide free accommodation and entitled rations, subsidised messing, AC 3 Tier free railway warrant from college to home and back during vacations, a book subsidy of Rs. 12,000/- during entire training period, uniform allowance of Rs. 6000/- per student during first year and Rs.1250/- per year as maintenance allowance in subsequent years and any other misc allowances as applicable.

All candidates should be medically fit as per laid down standards for the Armed Forces.

Only unmarried candidates are eligible. Marriage during the course is not permitted. The college is fully and compulsorily residential both for boys and girls.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION: Applicants must have passed the XII standard/pre-professional/premedical examination or equivalent examination of statutory Indian University/Board or any other recognized Board/University as a regular student in all the subjects opted for in FIRST ATTEMPT with the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology securing not less than 60% of aggregate marks in the three science subjects taken together, not less than 50% marks in each of the science subjects and not less than 50% marks in English. Theymust have also passed an examination in Mathematics at least of the matriculation standard. A graduate of B.Sc. examination with not less than two of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany or Zoology) and also must have passed the earlier qualifying examination i.e. XII standard/Pre professional (Med) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and obtained marks as stated above. NOTE (a)Candidates who are to appear in the qualifying examination (10+2 or equivalent) upto 01 May 2010 may also appear for the
test provisionally. (b) The following categories of students are NOT

ELIGIBLE to apply:- (i) Candidates who have passed in Domestic Science, Domestic Arithmetic, Lower Maths separately or in combination with other subjects like General Science, Social studies in High School/Higher Secondary (Multi Purpose) or equivalentexamination (ii) Candidates who have passed only Pre-University/Pre-Degree (one year course) or Pre-Professional in Agriculture/Veterinary/Dental Examination (iii) Candidates who have passed the Pre-Professional or equivalent qualifying examination
as private candidates.

AGE LIMIT: Must have attained the age of 17 years on 31 December 2010 but must NOT have attained the age of 22 years on the date i.e. not born earlier than 01 January 1989 and not later than 31 December 1993, if the academic qualification of the candidate is 10+2 or equivalent. A candidate who has passed B.Sc. examination or will be appearing in final B.Sc. examination and seeks admission, he/she must not have attained the age of 24 years on 31 December 2010 i.e. must have been born not earlier than 01 January 1987.
Application procedure: Prospectus and application forms can be purchased for Rs. 250/- in cash at the General/Head/Central/Main Post Offices located at the mentioned places from 21 Dec 2009 till stocks last or 29 January 2010 WHICHEVER IS EARLIER.

Note: While purchasing prospectus from above HPOs/GPOs candidates must ensure that they have received one copy of the Application Form also. Demand draft is NOT required to be sent alongwith these applications. Prospectus and application forms can also be obtained by post from Officer-in-Charge (Admission Cell), Armed ForcesMedical College , Sholapur Road, Pune- 411 040 on payment of Rs. 250/- per copy, only by Bank Draft on any nationalized bank payable at Pune in favour of “Commandant, AFMC, Pune”, along with full postal address ofthe candidate on two separate slips of paper (size 9 cms x 5 cms). Citizenship:Candidates have to be Indian citizens to be eligible to write ISAT-2010.

Date of Birth:
The date of birth of candidates belonging to GEN, OBC categories should be on or after October 1, 1985, while the date of birth of those belonging to SC, ST and PD categories should be on or after October 1, 1980. The date of birth as recorded in the high school/first Board/ Pre-University certificate/or its equivalent will be accepted. If the certificate does not mentionthe date of birth, candidate must submit at the time of counseling/admission an authenticated document indicating the date of birth.

Year of passing Qualifying Examination (QE)
A candidate must have passed the QE for the first time, in the calendar year 2009 or 2010, provided the results are available before 1 July 2010. Those who are going to appear in theQE or expecting the results of QE later than July 1, 2010 are not eligible to apply for ISAT-2010.

Minimum Percentage of Marks in Class X or equivalent examination.
Candidates belonging to GEN and OBC categories must secure at least 70% marks in aggregate in their Class X or equivalent examination, while, those belonging to SC,ST and PD categories must secure at least 60% marks in aggregate in their Class X or equivalent examination. B.Tech Programmes
B.Tech Avionics: The programme covers what is covered in typical Electronics and Communications programmes and in addition, provides exposure to Advanced Electronics in digital and communication, control systems and computer systems used in aerospace systems. People with B.Tech Avionics degree can later specialize in areas like DSP, RF & Communication, Antenna, Power electronics, micro electronics, control system etc.

B.Tech Physical Sciences: This programme is oriented towards application of basic sciences in Space Science, Space Technology and Space Application. The programme lays a strong foundation in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and gives exposure to important applications of space technology such as Remote Sensing and GIS, Astronomy and Astrophysics, and Earth System Sciences. People with B.Tech degree in Physical Science can later specialize in areas like Atmospheric and Ocean sciences, Solid Earth Science, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Remote Sensing & GIS, and Chemical Systems. The curriculum will have the best blend of basic science and engineering.

B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering: It is similar to programmes of the same title available in many reputed Institutions in India and abroad. The programme in IIST is oriented towards the needs of space technology, and has significant overlap with Mechanical Engineering including Mechanical Design and Manufacturing Science and Space Dynamics. People with B.Tech degree in Aerospace Engineering can further specialize in Flight Mechanics, Aerodynamics, Thermal and Propulsion, Structure and Design, and Manufacturing Science.

Eligibility:
1.Qualifying Examinations: Candidates applying for HSEE-2010 should have either completed or be appearing in 2009 in any one of the following qualifying examinations:
The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi; etc.Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.Final Examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy. General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level. High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University. Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in any foreign country recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system. H.S.C. Vocational Examination. Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.

In case the relevant qualifying examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination at an earlier level.

2.Eligibility Criteria for Candidates:
The candidates belonging to the general category must secure a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in their qualifying examination. Candidates belonging to SC, ST and PD categories must secure a minimum of 55% in aggregate in the qualifying examination. If any Board awards only letter grades without providing an equivalent percentage of marks on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the Board specifying equivalent marks, and submit it at the time of joining. In case, such a certificate is not provided by the candidate, the decision of the HSEE Admission Committee regarding his/hereligibility shall be final.

3.Important Notes:
(i) All provisional admissions to candidates will stand cancelled, if the proof of having passed the qualifying examination, as per the eligibility criteria specified in section is not submitted to the Institute latest by September 30, 2010.

(ii) All admissions will be subject to verification of facts from the original certificates/documents of the candidates. If an applicant is found ineligible at a later date even after admission, his/her admission will be cancelled. The decision of the HSEE Admission Committee regarding theeligibility of any applicant shall be final.

4.Date of Birth:
Only those candidates, whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1985, are eligible for HSEE-2010. However, in the case of SC, ST and PD candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e., such candidates, who were born on or after October 01, 1980, are eligible. Only the date of birth as recorded in the High School (10th std.)/first Board/Pre-University Certificate will be taken as authentic.Candidates must produce a copy of this certificate along with the completed Application Form as a proof of their age. At the time of admission, the original certificate has to be produced failing which they will be disqualified.

5.Physical Fitness:
All qualified candidates will have to submit a Physical Fitness certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format that will be made available to them along with offer of admission letter. They will be admitted only if they are physically fit for pursuing a course of study at this Institute.

For admission to any of the above Integrated First Degree programmes Candidates should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Further the candidate should have obtained a minimum of aggregate 80% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in 12th examination, with at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects and should have adequate proficiency in English. Students who are appearing for 12th examination in 2010 or who have passed 12th Examination in 2009 only are eligible to appear in the BITSAT-2010 test. Students who have passed 12th examination in 2008 or earlier are NOT eligible to appear in BITSAT-2010. Eligibility criteria foradmission under ‘Direct admission to Board toppers’ scheme: To be eligible for admission under the 'Direct admission to Board toppers' scheme, the candidate should be the topper from the science stream having taken Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics subjects in 12th. To identify the topper, the following criteria will be adopted. a) has taken Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects in 12th and b) has obtained the highest aggregate percentage of marks in 12th among all the students who have taken Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects in 2010 from the Board. For the purpose of calculating the aggregate percentage, the aggregate marks should include the marks of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects in addition to other subjects which are required to pass the 12thexamination from the Board under consideration. Further, the Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics subject marks should be included in the aggregate, irrespective of whether the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects are identified as main/optional/elective in his marksheet(s). Applicants under the scheme should attach documentary proof in support of their claim, along with the 12th mark sheet and a letter from the Board declaringthe candidate as the topper in the specified stream. The Institute will also make efforts to get these data from the different boards on its own. In all cases, the Institute will be guided by the data provided by the concerned Board. In cases where for a particular board, the data available before the deadline is insufficient or inconclusive, theadmission committee may decide not to make any offer under the scheme for that specified Board.

Eligibility: Passed Intermediate, 10+2 or equivalent examination in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology + Botany) taken together; (i) For MBBS/BDS/BAMS – a minimum of 50% for General, OBC and respective PC candidates and 40% aggregate marks for SC/ST and respective PC candidates; (ii) For B.Pharm. – a minimum of 60% marks for General, OBC and respective PC candidates and 55% aggregate marks for SC/ST and respective PC candidates. BY POSTAL CHANNEL : From the Office of the Director (PMT-Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221 005 by sending a written request through Registered Post along with Crossed Demand Draft/Bankers Cheque (MICR only) of Rs. 1200/- (Rs. 800/- for SC/STcandidates) of a Nationalized Bank, drawn in favour of “The Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU” payable at Varanasi. Application form will be sent by Speed / Registered Post. However, Institute will not be responsible for any loss or postal delay.

The request for application form must include the name and address of the candidate, and full particulars of the enclosed DD/BC (write candidate’s name and address on the back of DD). Two self-addressed, preferably typed, white paper slips of 10 cm X 6 cm size MUST also accompany it.

The ENVELOP containing requisition for PMT application form should be super scribed “ Request for Application for PMT-2010, BHU”. Last date of requisition for PMT form by post is Friday, the 19th February 2010.

Incomplete/non-cashable Draft (under amount/ unsigned/ without Bank Code No. & Seal) shall not be accepted.

NOTE: (a) Separate Bank Draft will be required for each application form. (b) M.O./ I.P.O./Cheques shall NOT be accepted under any circumstances. Eligibility: A candidate who has passed final M.B.B.S. OR B.D.S. Examination from a recognized Medical College OR Dental College approved by Medical Council of India OR Dental Council of India and who has obtained full registration either from the Medical Council of India, Dental Council of India or from the State Medical/Dental Council, after completing one-year compulsory rotating internship, will be eligible to appear for DMIMS(DU) AIPGM CET 2010 & DMIMS(DU) AlPGD CET 2010.

The full/permanent MCI / MMC or state for Medical or DCI / MDC for Dental or State registration is a condition precedent for appearing at DMIMS(DU) AIPGM CET 2010 & DMIMS(DU) AlPGD CET 2010 and its proof including submission of application for registration should be enclosed.

A candidate who has completed one year compulsory Internship or is likely to complete the same on or before 31” March 2009, can also appear in DMIMS(DU) AIPGM CET 2010 & DMIMS(DU) AlPGD CET 2010.

Candidates likely to complete their internship -on or before 31-03-2010 should submit documentary proof from their Principals/Dean of the College regarding the likely date of completion of the Internship along with the form, failing which the application form will be rejected.

Candidates who are previously registered and pursuing / completed the course are not eligible for appearing at the Entrance Test. Candidates who have passed PG Diploma are eligible to appear for the Test for admission to PG degree in the same subject only.

The candidates who possess Indian Nationality, with a proof in the form of Nationality Certificate / valid passport, are eligible to appear for examination.

NRI candidates, who have passed from MCI/DCI recognized Medical / Dental Colleges, are also eligible for the examination.
